John 6:41-71
Hebrews 4:12
In the sixth chapter of John, he describes how Jesus speaks to his disciples, telling them that he "is the bread of life. No one who comes to me will ever be hungry again. Those who believe in me will never thirst". (John 6:35)
Many of the disciples however, when hearing this, leaves Jesus... They used human rationalization and failed to see the power in Christ's words.
Like so, many times we Christians try to use our human knowledge to judge, filter, alter or negotiate what we believe of the word of God. Of course this is dangerous as the word of God is "full of living power. It is sharper than the sharpest knife, cutting deep into our innermost thoughts and desires. It exposes us for what we really are". (Heb 4:12)
Therefore,
"Today you must
listen to His voice.
Don't harden your
hearts against Him."
(Heb 4:7)
We must be like children when it comes to the Word of God, because it is beyond our human capacity to understand ... only god gives us wisdom to apply his knowledge and understanding to our everyday lives! :)
